Takara Shokudō
A moment to unwind in the city.
Located near Nishi-Koyama Station, Takara Shokudō serves satisfying diner classics, from thick, crisp horse mackerel to sizzling pork steaks and evening drink sets.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Break into the fried horse mackerel and you will hear a clean crunch from the coarse panko before reaching the thick, tender fish inside. The Golden Aji Fry Set is one of Takara Shokudō's signatures, pairing an airy, crackling crust with the natural richness of fatty horse mackerel. Diners often take the first bite as is to appreciate the fish's clean sweetness, then vary subsequent mouthfuls with salt, mayonnaise, Japanese Worcestershire-style sauce, or citrusy ponzu from the table.
Beyond seafood, the diner offers a robust lineup of hearty meat teishoku sets. Sizzling tonteki pork steaks come served in hot iron pans, alongside hand-shaped hamburg steaks and crisp chicken karaage—reliable comfort fare for weekday lunches or an easy dinner after work. The kitchen also turns out distinctive fried specialties, including thick-cut pork liver cutlets seasoned with a hint of curry.
Meals frequently feature rotating small side dishes, from natto to macaroni salad and chilled tofu, that fill out each tray. Inside, counter seats and tables accommodate solo diners comfortably. Come evening, a casual drinking set pairs highballs or draft beer with pub snacks such as itawasa fish cake and octopus-cut sausages, making the diner an inviting stop for an appetizer before dinner or a relaxed drink after work.
